History of Joint Stock Company “Foreign Economic Association “Mashinoimport” (JSC “FEA “Mashinoimport”), hereinafter referred to as the “Association”, dates back to October 31, 1933. During the early stages of its activities “Mashinoimport” was importing mining, metallurgical, power, transport equipment and ships.
JSC “FEA “Mashinoimport” has imported and exported engineering products, including lifting and transporting equipment, marine equipment, railway rolling stocks since 1948. In accordance with the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, the activities of the Association were broadened to include import and export of oil, mining and pump and compressor equipment in 1955.
In the following years JSC “FEA “Mashinoimport” participated in construction of transcontinental gas pipelines on the basis of the above decision: (Orenburg-Western border, Urengoi-Pomary-Uzhgorod); construction of large oil and gas fields (Samotlor, Astrakhan, Tengiz, Karachaganak); construction and operation of Russian coal industry giants – Neryungrinsky coal mine in South Yakutia and Kuznetsk coal basin. Many domestic refineries use equipment supplied under contracts with “Mashinoimport”.
Activities of “Mashinoimport” include reconstruction and modernization of seaports, purchase and installation of systems with capacity of 5 million tons of coal per year for the ports Vostochny in Nakhodka and Yuzhny in Ilyichevsk, delivery of unique equipment for the Astrakhan gas processing plant, the legendary “gas pipe” “deal of the century” and so on.
“Mashinoimport” has provided the supply of more than a quarter of the total volume of the machinery equipment for the national economy worth about $ 70 billion.
With the continued growth of trade, such foreign trade associations well known in the world market as “Sudoimport”, “Mashinoexport”, “Energomashexport”, “Avtopromimport”, “Metallurgimport” were separated from “Mashinoimport”. The Association expanded its activity in the global market in 1998, becoming the successor of “Tekhnoexport” and “Tsvetmetpromeksport” regarding the construction of oil, gas and coal industries abroad. Over 200 major facilities of fuel and energy complex were built in 28 countries with technical assistance of “Mashinoimport”.
Traditional partners of “Mashinoimport” include the largest companies of Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, the USA, Finland, France, Switzerland, Japan and other developed countries.
Investment cooperation with foreign countries with regard to the implementation of energy projects is an important area of foreign trade activities of “Mashinoimport”. The Association carries out works on exploration to putting on a “turnkey” basis of facilities for production, storage, transportation and processing of oil, gas and coal along with Russian organizations and foreign companies. The program of cooperation with foreign partners also provides for design and survey work, supply of equipment and materials, secondment of experts, training of Customer’s personnel.
The geography of “Mashinoimport’s” activities is extensive.
As to the oil and gas industry, it includes exploration and construction of field facilities in India, Yemen, Kuwait, Libya, Poland, at offshores of Bulgaria and Cuba, construction of oil and gas pipelines in Algeria, Greece, Libya, Nigeria, Finland, Cuba, construction of oil storage facilities in Angola , Afghanistan, Vietnam, Laos, Netherlands.
Within the coal mining industry the activities include construction of mines and processing plants in Bulgaria, India, China, Yugoslavia and other countries. In Vietnam, about 80% of coal is produced at the facilities constructed with the assistance of “Mashinoimport”.
“Mashinoimport” successfully solves issues of expansion of cooperation with foreign countries implementing its projects on the international market in cooperation with the largest Russian companies and organizations (OAO NK “LUKOIL”, OAO NGK “Slavneft”, OAO “Tatneft” and others), effectively combining their operational and financial capabilities with its experience, knowledge of market conditions and long-term business relationships with foreign partners. “Mashinoimport” realized more than 200 projects in 28 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. Total exports have amounted to more than $ 7 billion.
In recent years, “Mashinoimport” has significantly diversified its activities. It has implemented a number of contracts for the construction of social and economic objects In Russia.
Among the customers of “Mashinoimport” there are Russian federal agencies, Government of Moscow and Moscow region, municipal authorities of major regional centers (Tula, Samara), companies and organizations of Ukraine, Moldova and other CIS countries.

JSC “FEA “Mashinoimport” implemented more than 200 projects in 28 countries around the world, they include:

Delivery of drilling rigs for Baukema export-import, development of gas field Salzwedel – Peckensen, Germany (cost of project is over 31 million US dollars)
Construction of pipeline Marsa El Brega – Misurata, construction of a compressor station and other gas pipeline facilities (cost of project is over 1 million US dollars)
Construction of underwater passway through the Danube river of USSR-Bulgaria gas pipeline, construction at shelf area of Romania (cost of project is over 23 million US dollars)
Construction of tank farm facilities in Melange and Porto Amboim, Angola (cost of project is over 26 million US dollars)
Geological prospecting works for oil and gas on the continental shelf of Bulgaria (cost of project is over 44 million US dollars)
